Every year Ali Edwards encourages us to choose a word for the year.
The word I chose for last year was "Perspective".
Basically it was a reminder for me not to look too closely at life and the children I am rearing and the man I am married to. If you focus up too closely all you will see are the faults, the roughness and the bumps. I needed to take a step back, take a longer term view that even if the people aren't perfect 100% of the time, that doesn't mean I am failing as a wife and mother just that I have unrealistic expectations of me and of the others in my life.
If you step back, zoom all the way out, you lose sight of the roughness of the bark and instead are captivated by the panoramic view and the beauty all around.
Our challenge for this fortnight is up to you:
(1) explain your choice of word for 2009, and it's importance and significance to you OR
(2) choose a new word for 2010, giving your reasons and maybe how you intend to implement it, how you are going to remind yourself of your word etc OR
(3) if choosing a word really doesn't fill you with inspiration then a review of the year that was.
Please remember that we are a journaling challenge blog and submit your journaling typed out as well. You can submit by leaving me a comment or by emailing me Stefanie, " eyeore at telkomsa dot net "
Please note that I respond to comments by visiting your blogs and answering there, or if you have an email address I will email you directly. Many thanks for your input and please keep it coming.

I like this one, and I've chosen a word. Now I just need a photo. Maybe I'll try and get DH to snap one of me today!
I've done the first two on my blog already. My disappointment in choosing the word "Balance" http://thelinarstudio.typepad.com/embracelife/2009/12/word-2009-balance.htmland my intentions this year by choosing the word "Focus" http://thelinarstudio.typepad.com/embracelife/2009/12/word-2010-focus.html and a whole bunch of entries in between covering all kinds of things! Tomorrow, I have scheduled my post on regrets of 2009, which I suppose could be considered lessons, but my lessons can be found in my *8 Things post of earlier this week.
My goodness, I'm writing A LOT lately!
Happy 2010. May it bring only good things!
I love this word and I really love your reasons for choosing it!!
I have been following your blog for quite some time now, I hope to play along more this year. I love this first challenge of the new year. Your word of choice is great.
Such amazing photos! Hope you have a great new year!
I'll have to think on this. But, I have to say I love your "perspective" idea.
I need to step away, back away, and see the big picture, too. I get bogged down in the minutia of life.
Thanks for the reminder!
I love the explanation - perfectly simple but I've never thought of it like that ;-D
