Tracy's Take

Here is Tracy's Take:

Title: Pray to the Flag

Journaling: Tonight you came downstairs after you put Daddy to sleep and said "If I'm afraid, I need to pray to the flag." The rest of our conversation went something like this:

To the flag?

"Yeah. Teacher said I pray to the flag."

"Well, honey...you don't pray to the flag. You pray to God."

"Teacher said the flag will protect us."

"Your teacher is right in a way. There are men and women who work for the flag that protect us and hunt down bad guys. When we pray, we pray to God to protect us."

"Yeah. God is under my bed so if I'm afraid I have to pray and God won't let the monsters get me."

"Joey, there aren't any monsters under your bed."

"No, but if I'm in my bed and I yell for you, you hurry and come in there and pray with me so they won't get me."

"If you need me to, I'll pray with you whenever you want."

"Ok. We'll pray that God will protect us."

"That's right. God lets Mommy and Daddy protect you too."

"I know. Did you lock the door?"

So many times we have conversations like this with our little ones ... and though the moment is sweet or funny or just plain adorable it isn't 'saved' to cherish for years to come. Oh my, Tracy ... this is just fabulous! Great conversation, wonderful page, and such inspiration!

I love these little conversations too. I have scrapped another one where he's talking about getting married. He was about the same age and just wasn't really sure how the whole thing worked. He was worried that he would HAVE to get married and then he wouldn't get to live with us! *giggle* Soon, I'm sure he'll be tired of living with us. :-D Thanks girls!
