Tracy's take

Here is Tracy's take on the challenge:

Title: BUDS
Journaling Reads:
Through beginning band, Spuds McKenzie, Night Ranger, friendship pins, ripped jeans, lost loves, impossible crushes, sneaking out to dances, big hair, scary science teachers, cruisin' and endless hours on the phone this girl got me through high school! Everyone needs a bff and this fun chic is mine! Since JH we've been buds and I'm sure we'll be for a long time to come.

Journaling reads:

The Great Easter Egg Hunt
One of the best things about Easter at Granny Poe’s is seeing our traditions being passed down. Every year there are hundreds of eggs. Every year they are hid in the same places as when I searched for them as a little girl. It seems that so many things in life are changing. Its really nice to see that some things don’t. Stefanie's Take

Here is Stefanie's Take:

Journaling reads:

The best thing about 2007 (for me) has to be that the birth of your daughter somehow opened the door to our friendship once more. Even though our lives have got busy: yours with a full time job, new husband, step-daughter and a baby girl all your own not to mention three strapping sons from before and mine; juggling the home scene, three children and a scrapbooking enterprise. I treasure our 15+ year friendship. We have been through so much, encouraged one another, cried with one another, babysat for each other and used the other as a sounding board and to vent and always there has been a safety net knowing that no matter what~ neither of us will be judged and found wanting. I love that you and Andrew have the same temperament and that you give me much needed perspective when I can’t see the wood for the trees.
You know the song in my heart and can sing it back to me when I have forgotten the words. Thank-you.

Challenge # 24

This week's challenge is to do an LO based upon your oldest friend, this challenge is brought to you by our very own Colette.

Journaling Challenge - Who Is The Friend You Have Had the Longest?

My Sister Duana - by Colette Bate

Journaling reads:

Daddy was a Marine. We moved a lot. And, as a young girl I learned how to say good-bye. Even now, saying good-bye isn't hard to do. Because my defense against the pain is to look forward to the new adventure awaiting me. So, I'm not surprised that I don't have any long-term, close friends. I'm my best friend and I enjoy my own company.
However, Duana has been my friend ever since I was 4 years old. I am her big sister. And, although we are complete opposites we share our family, our childhood memories and the adventures of growing up with a dad in the military. But, we share much more than that. You see, she married my husband's brother and our adult lives have been inexorably entwined. Our relationship has weathered difficult times, yet we remain spiritually close ... true sisters.

friend (frend) n. A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts. But, let's not forget loves. Because she's been there for me my whole life ... more than my friend; sister.

Title: I'm a Pepper

***All photos taken by fellow DT member, Susan Wolfer.***

Journaling reads: The girl scout trip to Dublin Dr. Pepper was somewhat disappointing. The drive was long, the tour short, and the sandwich cold. The girls had more fun jumping off the stage. It was good to be together though.

Journaling reads:

There are just so many fashion crimes on these pages. I look at these pictures and all I wonder is...WHAT WAS I THINKING?! Not only that, but what was my mother thinkgins letting me out of the house looking like that?! All I can say is that...I am in danger of being arrested by the fashion police!

Fashionistas Circa 1961 by Colette Bate

Journaling reads: Keeping up with the latest fashions doesn't interest me much these days. Perhaps it's my weight, my age, or the styles of today. But, I have one fashion rule that I learned from my sister. If you remember wearing it when it first came in to vogue, then you're too old to wear it when it comes back in style.

Colette, Duana, Sherri in front of Ma's house. But, I have no clue why we are wearing these ridiculous hats.

Challenge #22

This week's challenge is to document your fashion No-No or something you consider to be a fashion No-No.

Here is Stefanie's take and can I just say that I completely agree with this:

Journaling reads:

I hate these ugly shoes and will not wear them, not now, not ever!

Jamie's e-mail challenge take...

Here is Jamie's e-mail challenge take:

Journaling: There is no greater reward for my years owning the store than the friends I made and the feeling of making people happy. When I announced that I was closing, I received so many emails from friends and customers. They made me feel so good! I'll treasure these forever.

Stefanie's Cosmo Cricket LO

Here is Stefanie's cosmo cricket LO:

Journaling reads:

"This was the highlight of Paris as well as the low point. I was taken in bythe height of the Eiffel Tower but failed to fully appreciate it afterclimbing the >360 steps. The hot chocolate was most welcome, the price of9.5 euros (R110) was not! I was convinced that the tower was rocking so letDH go up the lift to the top without me. He totally enjoyed it- snappingpictures from all the way around as well as up and down it. I was green andfeeling poorly and delighted to be back on the ground. The heavens openedand we stood in the pouring rain (and hail) for 10 minutes waiting for thebus to come, when it did it was full so we had to wait for the next one.Luckily by that time the sun was out and we were able to get warm and dry."

Journaling reads:
If I had moved back to Sask., there is so much I would have missed. No scrapbooking. No meeting some of the best peeps ever. No roadtrip to meet Ali Edwards. A ton of good times that wouldn't have happened. Who knew?

Lost in the shuffle....

I think my e-mail is acting strange because I did not get Tracy or Jamie's entries for the e-mail challenge. Anyway, here is Tracy's and Jamie is resending and I will post ASAP. So, this week either do the e-mail challenge or the new challenge.

Thanks!

Challenge # 21

Sometimes I thank God for Unanswered prayers....or Sometimes I am grateful for unanswered wishes. Ever have a moment where you are glad that wish didn't come true or that prayer was not answered. Journal about it and record that moment.

Here is my page:

Journaling reads:
I know it sounds odd to thank God for not answering a prayer to keep your marriage together, but I honestly thank him every day for not answering that prayer. When I was with Craig, I used to think that there was not anything else in the world that I wanted more than to be with him. I would pray that God would keep us together. Thankfully, God has his own agenda and a higher purpose that is beyond my understanding. I honestly could not see how good would come of my divorce to Craig. I thought that God wanted us to be together and for so long that is what actually kept me with him. I thought that God had arranged everything perfectly so that I would be with him and that I would be going against his plan to leave him.In the long run, God did want us together, if I had never met and married Craig, I would never have met Christian. Craig is the reason that I got the job at Compucom and that is where I met Christian. If I had never met Christian, I would never have had my daughter. So, when I think of Craig, I thank God for that unanswered prayer. He is so right in what He does, even when I can't see how things will possibly work out, He knows better. It is so hard to remember sometimes, but I can really look back on my life and see how He had a better way than the way that I had planned for myself.

Entry for this week...

Here is Nicole's entry:

Journaling reads:

“Welcome to the Daring Bakers! You are part of the March 2008 class. Please take some time to read the following information. And please pay special attention to the rules regarding following the recipe and rules for challenge participation to maintain good Daring Baker status. The premise of the Daring Bakers is very simple: each month we bake a challenge recipe that is put to us by the month's host. Everyone bakes the same recipe with no variations or substitutions unless approved by the host. Now that you're officially DBers (that's what we call each other), here are some points you need to know…”

I can’t tell you the little thrill of excitement I felt when I got my welcome message from the Daring Bakers. I really enjoy cooking but I was looking for something to push me to try even more new things than I had been and, one day while browsing the Internet, I stumbled upon the Daring Bakers. My first challenge was the Perfect Party Cake (see picture) and I was so proud when I finished. It was quite a bit of work but I was elated. It had been years since I did a cake from scratch—never mind that I made my own buttercream too! Wahoo! I have just completed my second challenge, which was even more challenging that the first, but I am always surprised at how good I feel when I finish. You’d think I had completed a marathon instead of a recipe! I am learning so much and so far the fruits of my labour have been very tasty…

Stefanie's Take

Here is Stefanie's take:

Journaling reads:

"Dear StefI am not good with words and so find it easier to write out my feelings. Iam sorry for the misunderstanding of last night. It was not my intention tohurt you, but I can see how much I did. I was pre-occupied with work andoverlooked your thoughtful gestures. Please forgive me. I admire yourcreativity and appreciate all the hard work you put into it. I love you somuch and so often the busyness of life drives a wedge between us, that andhaving three children adding their two cents in. I look forward to our timeaway - just the two of us. All my love, Andrew."
