Title: Baked
Quote: "Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all." - Harriet Van Horne
Journaling: Outside of scrapbooking, baking is my one escape. I live for the mess of ingredients, the piles of dishes, and the end result! If it weren't for my love of baking - and the end result, I would weigh at least 20 pounds less. But if I can't enjoy the fruits of my labor, life wouldn't be nearly as delicious!

 title: pizza fun

journaling:

making one's pizza is the greatest experience a child would have. who wouldn't want their own hands and creativity at their best and finally gets to taste the hard labour in the end?

Title: Winter Food

As the nights begin to draw in it's time to start thinking 'winter warmers' like lovely thick vegetable soup - which is a slightly different combination every time I make it - but always delicious, and as it gets colder outside, it becomes my lunchtime staple.

Another one from me

Title: Jackass Penguin

On Mother’s Day we were at UCT and I was able to go inside the Zoology building and visit my penguin project from 1987. Our class was tasked with filling the displays in the Zoo building. I was so blessed that my exhibit was still there. I had 2 partners; Gail and Amanda, however I did the whole poster. From matching the paint colours to the wall, matching the lines to the seal’s group’s poster. Doing the research and deciding what information to include, rubbing on the letters, cutting out the metal shape for the penguin and creating the shading with minute dots, making sure the alignment agreed with the seal poster. I can’t tell you how many hours it took, but I was so sleep deprived and grumpy I wouldn’t pose with everyone else when the posters were eventually finished. (sounds like me hey?) Gail and Amanda boiled the penguin (Sphenicus Demersus) for hours to remove the flesh. Ironically I remember having a chicken mayo sandwich that day, was too hungry to be put off by the smells. Then they stripped the bones and reassembled the skeleton. I think I got about 83%, one of the highest marks in our 3rd year Zoology class. I thought it was so amazing that my project was still there 23 years later, until DH pointed out that most of the students walking on campus today hadn’t even been born then.

Title: I love to create.

I did extra art in Primary School and every term we learnt something new. Pinch pots, batik, drawing in pastels, painting to mention just a few. That hour and a half every Wednesday did a lot to boost my  self-esteem and give me a creative outlet. My aunty Peggy taught me to knit. My first and only time of sleep walking was that night. My mother caught me trying to open my cupboard around mid night, saying I was looking for knitting patterns. I knitted quite a few jerseys and scarves. Peggy was also the one who taught me to crochet, I never really took to that but did complete a purple hot water bottle cover. In school we also learnt hand embroidery and sewing, we had such old machines, turning a wheel on the right to stitch. Julie introduced me to fabric painting (fat ladies and tablecloths) and cross stitch. I was such a prolific X-stitcher I actually needed glasses at 23. Arina introduced me to beading, and I made various necklaces, bracelets and even a handbag.
While I have enjoyed all of these crafts, nothing even comes close to my passion for scrapbooking. It Combines my love of photography with capturing our personal stories. I don’t think I will ever out grow this, my passion, my delight. And now that I am getting better at the digi thing, the sky really is the limit.

Title: 3Times a bridesmaid ....always home made

I have been a bridesmaid three times in my life and on each occasion the dress was home-made by my Mum or my Nan.
For the wedding of Trevor (centre) they even made the brides dress.

Title:Dare 2 Take the Plunge

Journaling:  If there's one thing that I never thought I'd do, it would be risking my life jumping off with a 70 ft long rope tied to me on a cliff 200 ft deep!!!  I have never shouted that loud in my entire life - - the view was spectacular, the wind amazing against my face, the feeling high, frightening, and liberating all at the same time!!!  It was reckless, yes, but I consider it an accomplishment for I have conquered my fear... I've never felt alive again in a long time.

I am sure that you can recognize this template. (March's free template from simplescrapper.com)

Title: dit is lekker

Journaling: For your Afrikaans oral you needed to create 10 sentences that started with “dit is lekker om te”
And you thought it was a great idea to bake with me and then take the cupcakes to school for everyone to taste. Cousin Bernise helped me with the Afrikaans while I was chatting to her on facebook. You created a poster with pictures that you drew describing the whole process.
I enjoyed my time baking with you and appreciate your helpfulness and the way you cleaned up so nicely as well. I trust that your school friends will enjoy the cupcakes tomorrow too.
Love Mom.

Another one from me

This one isn't a HUGE accomplishment, far more everyday life at our house,
but something I can be proud of nonetheless.

Title: Most nights
Journaling:
·         I cook from scratch
·         We have broccoli and carrots
·         Only occasionally will we have butternut, cauliflower and green beans
·         We have a starch; either potato, basmati rice or maize pasta
·         We have chicken, cornflake crumbed, casseroled or roasted
·         Occasionally we’ll have mince or meatballs
·         Seldom we’ll have steak or lamb chops
·         Sausage and mash even less often
·         The child on duty will lay the table, with cold water glasses and condiments
·         We pray “ Thank-you for our food Lord Jesus,
thank-you for your love,
Thank-you for your blessings Lord
Which flow from heaven above”
·         We sit around the kitchen counter
·         We eat by 6.30 pm
·         We very seldom have dessert
·         We share the experiences of the day

Title: Without a doubt

My greatest accomplishment, the thing I am most proud of? You three children, nothing else even comes close. I am so proud of you three watching you grow and develop, becoming all that God has created you to be and knowing that I had a small part to play in the miracle of you, this is a priceless treasure to me

Title:Finished

Phew! I can't believe I have finally finished my Forest School Leader training and assessments AND assignments - all 39 of them!
From the beginning of the training in January until I finally posted off my portfolio and handbook in mid-August, it has been an all consuming past time. Hours and hours of reading, planning, preparation, fretting, more reading, more fretting followed by lots and lots of writing. I can't tell you what a relief it is that it's all done & handed in!  Now for the 6 week wait to have it all marked!

Title : Incredible journey

It is about my journey from deciding I wanted to study product design, through studying for my advanced higher & applying for university, to getting my university place & sitting my final exam. Last September the point I'm at now seemed so far away. I had doubts over whether I'd pass my exam as it was a two year course in one year & I hadn't studied any of the lower levels. Plus, with a huge surge in university applications I knew I'd have a lot of competition for a place. Faced with this I could have given up as the odds seemed to be stacked against me, but I persevered & couldn't believe it when not only was I offered a place on my first choice course but I also got an A for both my final project & exam.

Title: Are you my last?

Journaling:
That “new baby” smell.
Washing tiny clothes. The way they shudder when they stretch.
Nursing. Even changing diapers! I love every minute of babyhood.
I went from wanting two kids to four before I even had three.
But, my pregnancies have all had their issues. Can I handle the stress of another?

Title: idol days

one of those "best days".. winning the scrappinmom's idol 1 made me realize that art comes from within. If you love what you do, you will excel in it. Art is not trying to incorporate someone's work to make your work beautiful, art is as natural as itself... Be yourself and you will create works beyond imagination...

Achievement:
Something you never thought you could do.
When and how you achieved it, how it made you feel
where you can go from here.

All my own work

Journaling reads...

Not the children- I mean the wallpaper in the background.
My Mum always did the wallpaper in our house. I was so proud when I managed to do my own.

And now the tenants want to take it down. James says "no problem"
I say "No Way. Never. Ever"
