Liza's challenge 57.

Title: Iconic...

Journaling:
"Always be true to yourself," that's what you always tell me.

A life lesson which I've only appreciated recently.

With you there are no pretensions, you say what you want without hurting anyone.

I will follow by your example and will share the same thing to my future kids. (March 28 '09)

Pamela's challenge 57

Pamela's LO. and some of the details up close.

Title - Good Things

"The very best things in life are simple and free... Cardboard boxes make great chairs, cars, and trains. Toilet paper tubes make perfect flutes, dolls, and hamster toys. Pizza tables, Happy Meal boxes, rocks, pinecones, plastic utensils, straws, and all packaging materials possess artistic potential... according to Josie."

Melissa's challenge 57

My Mom has taught me many things in life, both directly & indirectly. Growing up, we often struggled for money, and this taught me that the important things in life are not always held in hand. That is one of the reasons we opted for a small, simple wedding. She taught me, through the financial struggles of my childhood, how to make the most of every dollar. That is why we were able to put our wedding together for under $3000. She also taught me how to be humble and accept help, which is why our wedding day was so wonderful – the help that was given by family & friends to accomplish all of the tasks that need to be done. Thanks, Mom!

Helen's challenge 57

I've learnt so many lessons on my parenting journey, but most importantly that each person on this planet is an individual and should be nurtured to develop their own way, rather than be moulded into someone else. I think that's the main lesson for sucessful parenting. Don't dictate to your kids, rather stand back and observe, then hone in on the talents that each individual possesses.

Kids gotta love 'em.

Janis' challenge 57

Being your mom is a gift.
Journaling:
It has taught me to love unconditionally, to go beyond myself for there are more important things other than ME.
It has given me so much happiness that I cherish everyday.
I wish I can be with you all the time so I can watch you two grow before my very eyes.

Nicole's challenge 57

Little truths: a.k.a. Things I've Learned from My Kids.

1. Say YES! Opportunities come in many forms.

2. Enjoy the little things.

3. Laughter really is the best medicine.
It heals everything from the "grumps" to bumps and bruises.

4. A Mother's kiss really is magic to a child who is hurt.

5. It is never too early or too late for a cuddle.

Lynn's challenge 57

Keep your pecker up

Journaling -
Whenever I am finding things tough, I remember these words that my mum would say. Not only do they make me smile, they revive my fighting spirit & determination to face things head on. Thanks mum! Xxx

Shayne's challenge 57

Journalling is hidden under photo - attached to brown scalloped bazzil.

Reads as follows:

I don't think it's possible to understand the capacity for loving your children - until you actually have your own. When you have 1 child you love them absolutely and completely - yet when another comes along your love for your first born does not dimish in any way. God sure knew what he was doing when he created mom's! If there is 1 thing I've learn't from being a mom, you have a never-ending and unconditional supply of love for your children.

Challenge 57: Mother's Day.

Our Mother's have taught us so much...but then so have our children.

This fortnight make a LO journaling the lessons taught you either by your Mom or your children.
This challenge will run until the 30th of May.

It takes 3 sleeps to mourn the loss of a dummy (pacifier)
Jelly (jello) and custard are a balanced meal
Even the expensive Kirby vacuum cannot get prestick out of a new carpet
Postman Pat has a black and white cat
You can't get nail polish off a varnished dining room table
You actually can chew a mouthful of chicken for more than 30 minutes and then spit it out
Grapes sink
Deodorant costs the same as air freshner and also dissipates farts
Sponge bob lives in a pineapple under the sea
Anything before 1982 was the olden days (as in Michael Jackson was black, in the olden days)Chickenpox can leave scars even when not scratched
Cockroaches can float in a toilet bowl for more than 24 hours without either being flushed away or drowning
Fish are friends not food
Firelighters and matches are the most effective to make fire when playing "Survivor"
You can use peanut butter to get chewing gum out of hair
If icing (frosting) tastes better than cake, why eat the cake?
You can talk with food in your mouth (contrary to what my Mother told me!)
One can put too much salt on movie popcorn
Any pen left next to the phone probably doesn't work
Puzzle pieces can be eaten
Certain beads fit inside nostrils
An elastic band, a screw and a safety pin will stop the washing machine from spinning
Even a Woolies' blazer button can fall off before the first day of high school
If you scratch mozzie bites until they are raw and bleeding they do stop itching
Snot will stick onto the wall making an artistic statement
Pronutro left under the bed for long enough will feed a family of maggots
Creme soda cordial does curdle milk, but strawberry cordial doesn't
School clothes and shoes shrink over the 6 week school holiday
Pizza contains all 5 major food groups
Sharing is caring
Scrapbooking isn't actually working it's more like fun

Readers Roundup

Her advert inspiration

The LO from Lynette.

Janis' challenge 56

journaling reads:

Funny how at times you call me Alexa
and not Mommy.
"You're my bestfriend, Alexa
Today, tomorrow, and always."
These words are music to my ears
Although I know you got them
From watching your Barbie DVD.

Know that you can call me Alexa
I'm more than fine with that
There's no greater gift to motherhood
than having my daughter as my bestfriend Today, tomorrow and always.
Janis used the same advert that Lynn used, it reminded her of a patchwork quilt.

Helen's challenge 56

Helen's inspiration

You will see that what I used was not exactly an advert but rather a promotional page from my daughter's "Seventeen" Magazine. I only buy Scrapbooking magazines & none of them had suitable adverts & I liked the look of the page I chose when I realised I could create a "Random Pile" collage & change the photos to the old Polaroid style. Left side right side

Title : DAISY - LITTLE MISS PERFECT

Journalling : You love "adventuring" outside in the mornings & come back filthy dirty.

We've given you 3 baths so far & you are so laid back you don't really mind!

We can always find you passed out somewhere - Whate a perfect life!

Always ready for a cuddle - You know how to impress the boss.

How did we ever live without you? You kitties have made our house a home.

In just a few months you have captured all our hearts and are now part of our family.

Liza's challenge 56

Liza’s :
I was inspired by the circles in this ad of Prima and I decided to apply this in my design. The mood also inspired me to use the photos of my niece eating the cake.

Title: How to eat cake

Put cake in both hands. Make sure there’s enough for a full bite.
Look at the cake before you bite. It’s important that it looks yummy and tasty.
Bite from the right hand, then the left hand. Repeat the process.
Chew carefully and savor each bite. Never mind the caramel that covers your mouth and chin.
Lastly, don’t forget to give a big smile for the camera. Perfect!

Nicole's challenge 56

Her LO.
Her inspiration.

Her journaling:
It was a lot of fun watching you anticipate Christmas this year. This is the first time you really seem to "get" what the festivities are about. You were excited about everything and were thrilled about being able to decorate the tree (which, by the way, took 3 hours and worth every minute). This photo of you hamming it up with a Santa hat totally captures you "joie de vivre" regarding the spirit of the season. Total joy. Such spirit

Challenge 56

This challenge comes from Lynn.

Lynn was inspired by a challenge on the dream girls blog (their challenge 23)
to use an advert as inspiration for a scrapbook LO.
I loved the idea and her LO and thought to challenge my amazingly talented team with it too.

You'll need to submit whatever the advert is that inspired you as well some journaling. Please let's remember the importance of telling the story and challenging others to do likewise.
